Shear force:
- It is the internal resistance developed at any section to maintain free body equilibrium of either left or right part of the section.
- It may be horizontal or vertical. Shear force at any section is algebraic sum of all transverse forces either from left or right of section.
Calculation:
Given:
L = length of cantilever beam
Wo = linearly varying load
Now, the total shear forces applied at L/2 of the beam(total left side)
= \({1\over 2}\times {L \over 2} \times {} {W_o\over 2}\) = \(W_o L \over 8\)
