The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will soon release the SSC GD Notification 2026 for Constables (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), NIA, SSF and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles Examination 2026 in the month of October 2026. The SSC GD exams will be conducted from January to February 2026. SSC conducts the SSC GD exam every year to recruit General Duty Constables for various paramilitary forces, including BSF, CISF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, AR, SSF, and NCB.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will release the SSC GD Constable 2026 Notification in October 2025, as per the revised SSC exam calendar. The SSC GD application form 2026 will be available from October to November 2025. The SSC GD Constable exam is expected to be held in January–February 2026. This recruitment will fill GD Constable posts in CAPFs, NIA, SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles. Candidates must regularly visit the official website ssc.gov.in for the latest updates.
The SSC GD 2026 Constable Selection Process will consist of Computer Based Examination (CBE), Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Medical Examination and Document Verification. The SSC GD CBE will consist of one objective type of paper. A total duration of 60 minutes will be given to attempt the CBE. The shortlisted GD Constables will receive a salary against Pay Level-3 in the pay scale of Rs. 21,700 – 69,100/–.

What is the SSC GD Constable Exam?
The SSC GD Full Form is General Duty, Constable. This examination is conducted to recruit General Duty Constables in various armed forces. By qualifying the exam candidates can get appointed to the following posts depending on the force they choose:
- General Duty Constable in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) which includes five main forces i.e. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)

How to Apply For SSC GD Constable Exam?
Candidates who are planning to apply for the SSC GD Constable Exam 2025 should know the steps to apply for the post. The Staff Selection Commission has made the application process fully online through its official portal. Follow the step-by-step instructions below to complete your registration smoothly.
- Go to the official SSC website: ssc.gov.in.
- On the homepage, go to the "Apply" section and click on the "Apply" link.
- If you're a new user, register by providing your name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number.
- After successful registration, you'll receive a Registration ID and password. Keep them safe.
- Log in using your Registration ID and password, then click on the link for the SSC GD 2025 Exam.
- Fill in your personal details like name, father's name, mother's name, category, gender, and nationality.
- Enter your educational details, including school/college name, board/university, and marks obtained.
- Choose your preferred exam centres from the list.
- Upload a recent passport-sized photo and signature (usually in JPEG format and within the specified size).
- Pay the application fee using net banking or a debit/credit card.
- Before submitting, carefully check all the details for accuracy.
SSC GD Application Fee
The SSC GD Constable application fee is Rs 100 for male candidates, payable online via credit/debit card or net banking. Women, SC, ST, PWD, and ESM candidates are exempt from the fee. The fee must be paid by 15th October 2024, 11:00 PM.

SSC GD Constable OTR Process
The One Time Registration process will be conducted as part of the recruitment. It is for candidates who are applying for any of the SSC Exams for the first time. In the OTR process, candidates will be required to register themselves through the One Time Registration (OTR) portal of SSC before applying for the posts. The OTR from the old website will not be functional. The step wise process for One Time Registration for SSC GD Constable is as follows –
Step 1 – Go to the Official SSC Website
Visit the official SSC website and click on the “Login or Register” button at the top right corner of the homepage. Alternatively, directly go to the OTR Portal of SSC to begin your one time registration process.
Step 2 – Personal Details
To begin the one time registration process to apply for SSC GD Constable exam, candidates will first be required to fill in their personal details like name, father's name, date of birth etc. carefully. Then,
- Choose gender, category and PWD status if applicable
- Provide Aadhaar number or any other approved ID proof number
- Enter contact details like address, email and mobile number.
Step 3 – Create Password
As a next step, candidates will be required to create a password. Add your desired password to create your account. An email or message will be sent to your entered email address/contact number. Verify your account and re-login into your account using this password.
Step 4 – Fill in Additional Details
As a next step, fill in additional information as required on the portal such as your nationality, address and educational qualification details. Upload the documents as asked to complete the registration process.
Step 5 – Candidates’ Declaration
To complete the One Time Registration process, candidates must review all the details that are filled in the online application form. After completing the candidates’ declaration process, candidates can verify their account and complete the One Time Registration process.
The registration id and password generated can be used for applying to future SSC exams by logging into the account.
Prerequisites for Uploading Photo & Signature
It is essential for candidates to follow the guidelines mentioned in the official SSC GD Constable notification while applying. Following are some of the prerequisites required for uploading the photo and signature in the online application form –
- In the online Application Form, candidates are required to upload the scanned signature in JPEG format (10 to 20 KB).
- The image dimension of the signature should be about 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height) at a resolution of 300 DPI.
- Candidates is not required to have a pre-existing photograph of himself/ herself.
- The Application Module has been designed to capture a photograph of the candidate filling the Online Application Form.
- The candidate has to stand/ sit before the camera when prompted by the application module and follow the instructions while capturing the photograph.
SSC GD Selection Process 2026
The SSC GD 2025 recruitment will happen in four stages: Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and Medical Test. Candidates will be selected for Constable posts in CAPFs, NIA, SSF, Assam Rifles, and Narcotics Control Bureau through these stages:
- Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Stage 3: Physical Standard Test (PST)
- Stage 4: Medical Test
Candidates who pass all stages will then go through document verification.
SSC GD Eligibility Criteria

SSC GD Salary 2026
The salary for SSC GD constables is attractive and offers a stable government job opportunity. As per the 7th Pay Commission, Constables are placed in the Pay Level-1 to 3 with a grade pay of Rs. 2000.
- The Sepoy post in NCB falls under Pay Level-1, with a salary range of ₹18,000 to ₹56,900, while all other posts are categorized under Pay Level-3, offering a pay scale of ₹21,700 to ₹69,100.
- The basic pay is Rs. 21,700 per month. In addition to this, allowances like house rent, transportation and dearness allowances are provided.
