Saturn has 146 natural satellites, which is more than any other planet in our solar system. The moons range in size from the giant moon Titan, which is larger than the planet Mercury, to small moons that are shaped like ravioli or potatoes.
This finding reinstates Saturn as the planet with the highest number of moons, a title it briefly lost to Jupiter earlier this year.
In February 2023, Jupiter temporarily held the record when 12 new moons were found, bringing its total to 95.
However, these latest findings from around Saturn have significantly extended its lead.

At present, the newly found Saturnian moons have merely been assigned alphanumeric designations.
In the future, they will be named in line with Saturn's established naming convention—drawing from Gallic, Norse, and Canadian Inuit mythologies.
