Micromotion study:

• It is used for graphical presentation of many repetitive operations of short cycles like component assembly, packaging, inspection, separation of mixed jobs, which involve quick movements of the hand.
• In certain types of operations like pick and place objects, a detailed study of suck operations can be carried out.
• “SIMO” stands for Simultaneous-Motion Cycle Chart.
• It is one of the micromotion studies devised by Gilbreth and it presents graphically the separable steps of each pertinent limb of the operator under study.
• It is an extremely detailed left and right-hand operation chart.
• SIMO chart records simultaneously the different therbligs performed by different parts of the body of one more operator on a common time scale.

Method study:

• It is the process of subjecting work to systematic, critical scrutiny to make it more effective and/or more efficient. It is one of the keys to achieving productivity improvement.
• It was originally designed for the analysis and improvement of repetitive manual work but it can be used for all types of activity at all levels of an organisation

Process Analysis:

• Process analysis is the action of conducting a review and gaining an understanding of business processes.
• It involves reviewing the components of a process, including inputs, outputs, procedures, controls, actors, applications, data, technologies and their interactions to produce results. 
• The analysis includes the evaluation of time, cost, capacity and quality of processes, being able to use static or dynamic visual models of the process, data collection from the beginning to the end of activities, analysis of value chain, end-to-end modeling and functional decomposition. 

Layout Analysis:

• Document Layout Analysis is performed to determine physical structure of a document, that is, to determine document components.
• These document components can consist of single connected components-regions [...] of pixels that are adjacent to form single regions [...] , or group of text lines.
• A text line is a group of characters, symbols, and words that are adjacent, “relatively close” to each other and through which a straight line can be drawn (usually with horizontal or vertical orientation).
