Closed System:

Open System:
- In this type of system both mass and energy, the transfer takes place across the boundary of the system. Examples include pumps, compressors, reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, etc.
- Centrifugal pump is an open system.
Isolated System:
- In this type of system, neither mass nor energy crosses the boundary of the system. So it is a system with fixed mass and fixed energy.
- A manual ice cream freezer is an isolated system.
