Download Solution PDF- The rotor conductors of the SCIM is short-circuited by end rings. The rotor connections are not brought out at the outside, it is short-circuited inside of the motor.
- So that it is not possible to connect external resistances to rotor conductors, thus we don't have control over the speed of induction motor in squirrel cage type.
- The speed of the induction motor can be controlled by the following methods:
- V/f control (or) frequency control
- Changing the number of stator poles
- Controlling supply voltage
- Changing winding resistance by adding rheostat in the stator circuit
