Question
Download Solution PDFThe length, breadth and height of a hall are 10 m, 20 m and 15 m respectively. Find the cost of whitewashing the walls of the inside of the hall and ceiling at the rate of Rs. 10.20/m2
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Length of the hall = 10 m
Breadth of the hall = 20 m
Height of the hall = 15 m
Rate of whitewashing of walls = Rs.10.20/m2
Formula used:
Area of rectangle = L × B
Area of four walls = 2 × H × (L + B)
Where, L = length; B = breadth; H = height
Calculation:
The total area of the hall = Area of four walls + area of the ceiling
⇒ 2 × H × (L + B) + (L × B)
⇒ 2 × 15 × (10 + 20) + (10 × 20)
⇒ 2 × 15 × 30 + 200
⇒ 900 + 200 = 1100 m2
Total cost = 1100 × 10.20 = Rs.11220
∴ The correct answer is Rs.11220.
