S varies directly as (R + 7), and S = 42 when R = 17.

Formula used:

S = k × (R + 7)

Where, k is the constant of proportionality

Calculations:

42 = k × (17 + 7)

⇒ 42 = k × 24

⇒ k = 42 / 24

⇒ k = 1.75

S = 1.75 × (29 + 7)
