Question
Download Solution PDFJay started a business investing Rs. 12,000. After four months, Ajay joined him with a capital of Rs. 16,000. At the end of the year, they made a profit of Rs. 5,100. What should Ajay's share be in the venture?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Investment of Jay = Rs. 12
Investment of Ajay = Rs. 16000
Total Annual Profit = Rs. 5100
Time period of investment of Jay = 12 months
Time period of investment o Ajay = 8 months
Concept Used:
Profit Ratio = (Investment × Time Period)
Calculation:
Investment × Time Period of Jay = 12000 × 12
Investment × Time Period of Ajay = 16000 × 8
⇒ Profit ratio of Jay : Ajay = 12000 × 12 : 16000 × 8 = 9 : 8
Now, Share of Ajay = 5100 × \(\frac{8}{17}\) = 2400
∴ Share of Ajay = Rs. 2400.
