Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Shopkeeper buys 2 dozen bananas at Rs. 30 per dozen
15 bananas were sold at 12 Rs/dozen
Remaining sold at 5 Rs/dozen
Concept:
1 dozen = 12
Loss % = (C.P - S.P) / C.P
Calculations:
C.P of 2 dozen bananas = 30 Rs.
(S.P)1 = \(\frac{15}{12}\) × 12 = 15 Rs.
(S.P)2 = \(\frac{9}{12}\) × 5 = 3.75 Rs.
Total S.P = 15 + 3.75 = 18.75 Rs.
Loss = \(\frac{30-18.75}{30}\times 100\) = 37.5 %
∴ The loss percentage is 37.5 %.
