Question
Download Solution PDFOn a circular path of 693 m, Sujata and Anjali start walking from the same point but in the opposite directions at the speed of 2.85 km/h and 1.5 m/sec, respectively. When they will meet for the first time?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Speed of Sujata = 2.85 km/hr
Speed of Anjali = 1.5 m/sec
Distance between them = 693 m
Concept used:
Relative speed when two persons travel with speeds of x km/hr and y km/hr in opposite directions is (x + y) km/hr.
Time = Distance/Speed
Calculation:
2.85 km/hr = 2.85 × (5/18)
⇒ 0.79 m/s
Relative speed = 0.79 + 1.5 = 2.29 m/s
Time = Distance/relative speed
⇒ Time = 693/2.29
⇒ Time = 302.62 seconds
⇒ Time = 5.04 minutes
They will meet for the first time after 5.04 minutes.
