Question
Download Solution PDFFor M-45 concrete as per IS : 1343 - 2012, in prestressed concrete structures, which is the correct value for autogenous shrinkage (εca × 10-6)?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFConcept:
As per IS 1343 - 2012; Autogenous shrinkage (εca × 106):
The autogenous shrinkage strain develops during the hardening of concrete; the major part develops in the early days after casting. Autogenous shrinkage is a linear function of concrete strength. It should be considered specifically when new concrete is cast against hardened concrete.
In the absence of accurate field/laboratory data, the following values may be considered in design:
S. No. | Grade of concrete | Autogenous shrinkage (εca × 106) |
1. | M 30 | 35 |
2. | M 35 | 45 |
3. | M 45 | 65 |
4. | M 50 | 75 |
5. | M 60 | 95 |
Hence option (2) is the correct answer.
