Given:

√(2x+9)+x=13

Formula used:

Isolate the square root term and then square both sides to eliminate the square root.

Calculation:

√(2x+9) = 13 - x

Square both sides:

⇒ (√{2x+9})2 = (13 - x)2

⇒ 2x + 9 = 169 - 26x + x2

Rearrange the equation:

⇒ x2 - 28x + 160 = 0

Factorize the quadratic equation:

⇒ (x - 20)(x - 8) = 0

So, x = 20 or x = 8
