Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Number of employees in sector Q = 850
Number of employees in sector S = 900
Ratio of male to female employees in sector Q = 11 : 6
Ratio of male to female employees in sector S = 4 : 5
Calculations:
Let the number of males and females in sector Q be 11x and 6x, respectively.
Let the number of males and females in sector S be 4y and 5y, respectively.
The total number of employees in sector Q = 850
11x + 6x = 850
⇒ 17x = 850
⇒ x = 850 / 17 = 50
Number of males in sector Q = 11x = 11 × 50 = 550
The total number of employees in sector S = 900
4y + 5y = 900
⇒ 9y = 900
⇒ y = 900 / 9 = 100
Number of females in sector S = 5y = 5 × 100 = 500
Total number of males from sector Q and females from sector S:
550 (males from sector Q) + 500 (females from sector S) = 1050
∴ The total number of males from sector Q and females from sector S is 1050.
