Given: There are six persons i.e. A, D, R, B, E, and V who lives in a building having three floors such that the ground floor is numbered 1 and above it is 2 and so on up to the top floor is numbered 3. Each of the floors consists of 2 flats -  flat-1 and flat-2. Flat-1 of floor-2 is immediately above flat-1 of floor-1 and immediately below flat-1 of floor-3 and the same way followed by flat-2. Flat 2 is east of Flat 1.

Based on the given conditions, we get the following possibilities:

1. E lives immediately below A.

2. R lives below E but in different flat .

From these, we get two cases,

Case 1

Flat - 1

Flat - 2

Floor 3

A

Floor 2

E

Floor 1

R

Case2

Flat - 1

Flat - 2

Floor 3

A

Floor 2

E

Floor 1

R

3. R lives immediately below B.

4. No one lives to the east of B. Hence Case 2 gets invalid.

From these we get,

Flat - 1

Flat - 2

Floor 3

A

Floor 2

E

B

Floor 1

R

5. V lives in a flat on floor 1.

6. D is a person living in the building.

From these, we get the final arrangement,

Flat - 1

Flat - 2

Floor 3

A

D

Floor 2

E

B

Floor 1

V

R

Therefore, from the final arrangement, E is in Flat 1 and Floor 2.

Hence, E is in Flat 1 and Floor 2.
