The acronym RTO stands for Regional Transport Office or Road Transport Office. RTO is an Indian government organization tasked with maintaining a database of vehicles and drivers for different states across India. Each state has its own RTO which issues driving licenses and vehicle registration documents. Nowadays, most RTOs have transitioned to digitized cards, similar in size to a PAN card, featuring the holder's photo and vehicle details.
