RRB ALP Post Preferences: Which Post Should You Choose?
Several aspirants search, “Which trade is best for RRB ALP?” before selecting their post-preference in the RRB ALP Trade Selection stage. However, there are several factors that come into play while choosing a RRR ALP post based on your trade or educational background. Mainly, aspirants who have multiple degrees (ITI/Diploma + PCM) can select Assistant Loco Pilot post over Technician. But is that all to it? Let’s check out the key factors to consider before choosing the best possible RRB ALP post as per your stream.
- Consider the RRB Zone with Maximum Trade-wise Vacancies: While selecting the RRB ALP, PCM or Technician post, consider the total number of available category-wise vacancies/posts for each trade in the particular zone that you have chosen. For instance, in the previous RRB ALP exam cycle, a total of trade-wise vacancies allotted in RRB Allahabad for ALP was 365, 702 for Technician, and 160 for PCM posts. So, if you’ve selected this zone, RRB ALP post preference for Technician trade would be higher over others.
- Determine Region-wise Cut Offs: While choosing the RRB ALP post, you must also consider the RRB ALP Cut Off reserved for each post in that particular zone. Always select that post which has relatively lower cut offs. As you know, RRB will consider 15 times more vacancies for a particular post than it did in CBT 1 phase. For instance, taking the above RRB Ahmedabad vacancy data, 5475 candidates would be selected in ALP, 2400 in PCM, and 10,530 in Technician posts. So, it’s evident given the competition, that in RRB Allahabad zone, cut offs will be highest for PCM, followed by ALP & Technician.
- Compare between Total Trade-wise Vacancies and Strength of Applicants: Before going for RRB ALP post preference, always compare between total no. of vacancies and total strength of aspirants for a particular trade. For instance, in the previous 2018 cycle, we found that, majority of PCM stream-aspirants selected Physics & Maths trade which increased its competition automatically. In such cases, selecting ITI/Diploma or other technical trade would be beneficial where competition is relatively lesser as well as where the vacancy gap could be filled easily as compared to the Physics & Maths trade.
- Consider your Educational Qualification: While selecting your RRB ALP post preference, your educational background will also be beneficial. Candidates who have Engineering degree can choose ALP post while ITI/Diploma holders must go for Technician post. But if you have both of these degrees, then you can even select the RRB ALP post over Technician due to flexibility options in trade selection.
- Compare Post-wise Salary: It is very important to estimate your post-wise salary before selecting the particular post. For instance, candidates who have been selected as Assistant Loco Pilot post will receive an approximately higher in-hand salary (Rs. 60,000-70,000 incl. allowances) over Technician (Rs. 25,000-30,000) upon joining.
