The RAMP (Revitalizing MSMEs for a Prosperous India) scheme is a significant initiative by the Government of India aimed at rejuvenating the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in the country. What is Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP)?

The Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme is a World Bank-assisted initiative. It was launched by the Indian government to strengthen and improve the performance of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country. It aims to boost their competitiveness and integration into the national economy.

Objectives of RAMP

The objectives of the RAMP (Reimbursement of MUDRA loans to Public Sector Banks) scheme are as follows:

  • The primary objective of the RAMP scheme is to provide relief to small business owners who have taken loans under the MUDRA scheme. 
  • The scheme aims to address the financial hardships faced by small business owners who may be struggling to repay their MUDRA loans.
  • The scheme aims to provide a financial cushion to small businesses. It enables them to overcome temporary financial difficulties.
  • The scheme intends to simplify the loan repayment process for small business owners. 

Implementation Strategy and Targets

The RAMP program has identified two primary result areas for implementation:

  • Strengthening Institutions and Governance: This involves enhancing the organizational structures and governance mechanisms related to the MSME sector. It seeks to streamline processes and promote efficient coordination between different stakeholders.
  • Supporting Market Access and Financing: RAMP aims to facilitate easier access to markets and financial resources for MSMEs. This includes initiatives to enhance the technological capabilities of these enterprises, making them more competitive in the market.
