The answer is option (d) - Both Methionine and Cysteine are deficient in pulses.

Pulses, a member of the Leguminosae family, are recognized as a rich source of protein and are abundant in various nutrients and fiber. Although all pulses are legumes, the reverse is not true - not all legumes are pulses. Pulses are primarily consumed by humans and certain animals in the form of dried grains.

Pulses boast higher levels of folate, magnesium, iron, and zinc when compared to cereals. However, they lack some essential amino acids such as cystine, methionine, and leucine. Furthermore, pulses are also rich in riboflavin, thiamine, fat, and vitamin B6.

Comprising of 20-25% protein and 60-65% carbohydrates, pulses are a nutritional powerhouse. The proteins in pulses are divided into globulin and albumin, with starch being the main component of carbohydrates. Despite their nutritional richness, pulses can be difficult to digest due to the presence of enzymes inhibitors.
