On 17th December 1996, India made a significant move towards environmental conservation by ratifying and becoming a part of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
The UNCCD is a unique global initiative aimed at combating desertification and mitigating the impacts of drought. This is achieved through national action programs that incorporate long-term strategies for sustainable land management.
