On September 15, 2021, NITI Aayog, in collaboration with Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) and RMI India, introduced the Shoonya Campaign. This initiative is an ambitious step towards promoting the use of zero-pollution delivery vehicles by engaging with consumers and industry stakeholders. The primary objective of the campaign is to expedite the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in urban delivery settings and to educate consumers about the advantages of eco-friendly delivery options.
The Shoonya Campaign involves a corporate branding and certification programme. This programme is designed to acknowledge and encourage the industry's efforts in transitioning to EVs for last-mile deliveries. To monitor the success of the campaign, an online tracking platform will be set up. This platform will provide updates on the campaign's impact, including data on electrified vehicle kilometers, carbon savings, pollutant savings, and other benefits derived from the use of clean delivery vehicles.
