TRIFED under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has initiated a program called Sankalp se Siddhi. This Village & Digital Connect Drive is being viewed as a game-changer for the tribal communities across the nation.
Information about the Sankalp Se Siddhi Scheme is crucial for the
IAS exam
under General Studies Paper 2. It also holds significance for the current affairs section of various competitive exams.
The primary objective of Sankalp Se Siddhi drive is to energize the Van Dhan Vikas Kendras in the villages.
The drive spans over 100 days and aims to cover 100 villages in each region, totaling to 1500 villages nationwide.
The drive involves 150 teams (10 from each region) from TRIFED and State Implementation Agencies/ Mentoring Agencies/ Partners, each team visiting ten villages.
After the activation of VDVKs in these 1500 villages, a sales target of Rs 200 crore is set for the next 12 months under the Sankalp se Siddhi initiative.
The teams will identify potential locations for Van Dhan Vikas Kendras and shortlist them for clustering as TRIFOOD, and SFURTI units for larger enterprises.
The teams will also identify tribal artisans and groups and enlist them as suppliers to enable access to larger markets through the Tribes India network.
Sankalp Se Siddhi is expected to bring about a complete transformation of the tribal ecosystem across the country.
TRIFED's Initiatives
TRIFED has implemented various initiatives to uplift the disadvantaged tribal communities. These include:
Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs)
VDVKs were established under the Van Dhan Yojana.
The first VDVK was set up in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh.
VDVKs provide capacity building training and skill upgradation to the tribal population.
Tribals are trained and provided with working capital to add value to the products they collect from the forest.
The VDVKs also set up primary processing and value addition facilities.
A Van Dhan Vikas Kendra comprises 15 tribal Self-Help Groups (SHGs), each with twenty artisans or tribal food gatherers.
Village and Digital Connect
TRIFED's regional officials visit identified villages with a significant tribal population to ensure the reach of existing initiatives and schemes to the tribal population.
Scheme Ensuring Fair Prices to Tribal Population
The 'Mechanism for Marketing of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) through MSP scheme & Development of Value Chain for MFP’ scheme provides Minimum Support Price (MSP) to forest produce gatherers.
The MSP for MFP scheme aims to establish a framework for ensuring fair prices to tribal gatherers, along with primary processing, storage, and transportation.
The scheme also addresses issues faced by tribes such as perishable nature of the produce, lack of marketing infrastructure, and exploitation by middlemen.
Tech For Tribals Programme
Tech For Tribals is an Entrepreneurship Skill Development Program run by TRIFED in collaboration with IITs, IIMs, and TISS, for 27 states.
