Concept:

Transverse Shear in Lacing Member:

As per clause 7.6.6.1 of IS 800 : 2007, The lacing shall be proportioned to resist a total transverse shear at any point in the member equal to at least 2.5% of the axial force in the member and shall be divided equally among all transverse lacing system in parallel planes. For each lacing = 2.5/2 = 1.25 %  .Important Points

For a single lacing system on two parallel faces, the force (compressive or tensile) in each bar,

\(F = \frac{V}{{2\sin \theta }}\)

For double lacing system on two parallel planes, the force (compressive or tensile) in each bar,

\(F = \frac{V}{{4\sin \theta }}\)
