Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven :
On x - axis = minutes of conversation.
On y - axis = number of calls.
Calculation :
First we have to find total no. of minutes for each bar ( a BAR represents no. of calls according to the minutes of conversation).
Total no. of minutes for each bar = no. of minutes × no. of calls.
For 1 minute conversation = no. of minutes × no. of calls
⇒ 1 × 4 = 4 minutes.
For 2 minute conversation = 2 × 14 = 28 minutes.
For 3 minute conversation = 3 × 40 = 120 minutes.
For 4 minute conversation = 4 × 30 = 120 minutes.
For 5 minute conversation = 5 × 12 = 60 minutes.
To find the total number of minutes of conversations, we have to add all the minutes.
Total no. of minutes = 4 + 28 + 120 + 120 + 60.
Total no. of minutes = 332 minutes.
∴ The total no. minutes of telephone conversations that took place on that day is 332 minutes.
Hint
Multiply the digit above the bar to the digit below it and add the products for all bars.
