Sum of 9 numbers = 30 × 9
⇒ Sum of 9 numbers = 270
Sum of the first 5 numbers = 25 × 5
⇒ Sum of the first 5 numbers = 125
Sum of the last 3 numbers = 35 × 3
⇒ Sum of the last 3 numbers = 105
Let the 6th number be x.
Sum of all 9 numbers = Sum of the first 5 numbers + 6th number + Sum of the last 3 numbers
⇒ 270 = 125 + x + 105
⇒ 270 = 230 + x
⇒ x = 270 - 230
⇒ x = 40
