Given:

Maximum marks in each subject = 100

Subjects = 5

Marks scored in the 5 subjects by the student = 83, 51, 68, 62, 71

Marks to be deducted from each subject due to poor attendance = 7

Calculation:

Net marks in each subject:

⇒ Subject 1: 83 - 7 = 76

⇒ Subject 2: 51 - 7 = 44

⇒ Subject 3: 68 - 7 = 61

⇒ Subject 4: 62 - 7 = 55

⇒ Subject 5: 71 - 7 = 64

Sum of net marks:

⇒ 76 + 44 + 61 + 55 + 64 = 300

Net average marks:

⇒ Net average = 300 / 5 = 60

∴ The correct answer is option (3).
