Now, b = 3a
⇒ a = b/3 ----(1)
And, b = 2c
⇒ c = b/2 ----(2)
Now,
Sum of three numbers = 55
⇒ a + b + c = 55
⇒ (b/3) + b + (b/2) = 55
⇒ 11b/6 = 55
⇒ b = 30
So, a = b/3 = 30/3 = 10
And, c = b/2 = 30/2 = 15
∴ Largest number is 30
Shortcut TrickIt is given in the question that the second number is three times the first number and twice the third number. It means it will be divisible by both 3 and 2. Hence our answer should be divisible with 6. Only 30 from the given numbers is divisible by 6.
