Given:

salary of X is 20% more than salary of Y

Calculation:

Let the salary of Y be 100.

Then, salary of X will be (100 + 100 × 20/100) = 120.

Y less than X in % = (\(\frac{120-100}{{120}}\) × 100)

⇒ (\(\frac{20}{{120}}\) × 100) = \(\frac{50}{3}\)

∴ The required percentage is \(\frac{50}{3}\).
