Direction: In each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and answers.

Seven people Priyam, Gopi, Ashish, Suhas,  Samar  Girish, Babita are sitting in a straight line facing north in direction. Who is sitting in the middle of the row?

I. Gopi is sitting immediately left of Ashish. Only two persons are sitting between Suhas and Babita. Priyam sits one of the places to the left of Suhas.

II. Priyam is sitting second to the left of Ashish. Samar and Girish are sitting together.

  1. If the data in statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
  2. If the data in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

Statement I: Gopi is sitting immediately left of Ashish. Only two persons are sitting between Suhas and Babita. Priyam sits one of the places to the left of Suhas. Four possibilities could occur.

There are many more cases from statement I. so this statement I alone is not sufficient.

Statement II: Priyam is sitting second to the left of Ashish. Samar and Girish are sitting together.

From the statement, II answers cannot be determined.

By combining both statements,

Both statements are not sufficient to answer the question. Hence neither statement I nor statement II is sufficient.

Hence, the correct answer is if the data in both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
