Concept:

A coil when placed in a slot, the distance between two coil sides of a coil is equal to the distance between the center of one pole to the center of an adjacent pole ( i.e., pole-pitch ) is known as 'Full Pitch'. The coil span of a full pitch coil is always 180° electrical.

Pole pitch is the peripheral distance between two adjacent poles.

It is defined as the number of armature slots(or armature conductors) per pole

Calculation:

Number of poles = 6

Total number of coils = 36

Number of slots = 36

\(Pole\;pitch = \frac{{\left( {Number\;of\;slots} \right)}}{{Numbers\;of\;poles}}\)

Pole pitch = 36 / 6 = 6

In the case of Full Pitch winding, the full pitch is equal to the pole pitch is 6
