Given:

At a restaurant, Ravi paid 15 percent more than Vinod whereas Gopal paid 20 percent less than Vinod.

Total bill was Rs.3540.

Calculation:

Let the amount paid by vinod = 100

Amount paid by Ravi = (100% + 15%) of 100 = 115% of 100 = 115

Amount paid by Gopal = (100% - 20%) of 100 = 80% of 100 = 80

Total amount paid = 100 + 115 + 80 = 295

According to the question,

⇒ 295 = Rs. 3540

⇒ 1 = Rs.

Amount paid by vinod = Rs. × 100 = Rs. 1200

Therefore, "Rs. 1200" is the required answer.
