Download Solution PDFGiven:
A contractor decided to complete a work in 80 days and employed 60 men at the beginning and 20 men additionally after 20 days and got the work completed as per schedule.
Concept used:
Total work = Efficiency of each worker × Number of days to finish × Number of total workers
Calculation:
According to the question,
The contractor employed 60 men at the beginning and 20 men additionally after 20 days. So 80 men are employed for 60 days.
Total work = 20 × 60 + 60 × 80 = 6000 units
So if he had not employed the additional men, the time is taken to complete the work by 60 men
⇒6000 units/ 60
⇒ 100 days
Now, extra days = 100 - 80 = 20 days
∴ If he had not employed the additional men, 20 extra days he would have needed to complete the work.
