Question
Download Solution PDFA bus starts from a bus stand after every 50 minutes in the same direction. Mohit is walking in opposite direction with a speed of 50 km/hr. If Mohit meets each bus in 10 minutes, then what is the speed of bus?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Time interval between each bus = 50 min
Speed of Mohit = 50 km/hr
Time between each meeting by a bus = 10 min
Concept:
Relative speed is the rate at which the distance between two objects is changing over time.
Calculation:
Let the speed of bus be x km/r
Distance covered by bus in (50 – 10) = 40 minutes = Distance covered by Mohit in 10 minutes
Distance covered by bus in 40/60 = Distance covered by Mohit in 10/60
40x/60 = 50 × 10/60
x = 12.5
Hence, the speed of the bus is 12.5 km/hr.
