Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is expected to return to Earth today, July 15, 2025, after completing an 18-day historic mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS) as part of the Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) program.

Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla returned to Earth at the International Space Station on July 15. The Axiom-4 (Ax-4) mission completed its separation from the International Space Station (ISS) at 4:45 pm (IST) on Monday. In a historic moment, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and the Axiom-4 crew aboard Dragon spacecraft splashes down in the Pacific Ocean after an 18-day stay aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

There Are Many Notable Aspects During His Historic Journey:

In his 18-day stay, Shukla orbited the Earth more than 310 times and covered a distance of about 1.3 crore kilometers which is 33 times more than the distance between the Earth and the Moon.

During this time, the mission team witnessed the rare sunrise and sunset more than 300 times, an experience that only a few people get to experience and which demonstrates the dynamics of low Earth orbit.

At the same time, the Dragon capsule ‘Grace’ is separating from the ISS through extremely precise technical procedures and entering the orbit to return to Earth, under which several departure burns are being done.
