Paranormal investigator Dan Rivera, the Connecticut-based handler of the infamous Annabelle doll – also known as the haunted Raggedy Ann doll – died on July 13, 2025, at the age of 54. At the time of his death, he was in Pennsylvania for his ‘Devils on the Run Tour’, which took him through haunted cities across the United States. With no prior medical history and the sudden nature of his passing, many are now left wondering about Annabelle’s current whereabouts.
Annabelle Doll’s Whereabouts After Rivera’s Death
The Annabelle doll was on display at the Warrens’ Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut. It was featured as a key exhibit on the ‘Devils on the Run Tour’ – which began in May 2025 and was organised by Dan Rivera. During the tour, the Annabelle doll travelled to New Orleans, Louisiana, and San Antonio, Texas, before moving on to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Annabelle was scheduled to appear next in Rock Island, Illinois, in October 2025. Following Rivera’s passing, the doll has since been returned to the Warrens’ Museum.
Rivera’s Final Public Appearance At Gettysburg
Notably, Rivera was one of the main organisers who managed the sold-out tours for visitors to see the Annabelle doll at the Gettysburg stop of the tour. According to the Evening Sun, which covered the show on July 12, 2025, it was Rivera who was seen joking with guests about the popularity of the tours. He acknowledged that the people gathered to meet the doll, saying: “I want you guys to have a good time.”

Protection Measures For Haunted Exhibit
Dan, who had been mentored by renowned paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren, explained that full measures had been taken to ‘protect them’ from the haunted doll, including the case it was contained in, because he had made it himself. Dan also said that he had made the case with three crosses, representing the Holy Trinity anyway, and that it had also been stained with holy water.
Family Statement And Public Speculation
Dan Rivera left behind a wife and four children. The family released an official statement on their Facebook account after Dan’s death while on tour for Annabelle. Dan was found dead in his hotel room and was alone. The cause of death is not known, but the internet believes it is due to the haunted doll, since strange things has happened since the tour started.
History Of The Infamous Annabelle Doll
Ed and Lorraine Warren had a collection of haunted artifacts, but it was the Annabelle doll that garnered worldwide publicity. The late couple gave a warning to anyone who came into contact with the three-foot-tall Raggedy Ann doll, which was kept in a glass display case with a glaring label that read “Positively Do Not Open”.
Origin Of The Curse: From Nurse To Nightmare
In 1970, the doll was gifted to a Hartford nurse, and it was once a moving toy that attacked the finances of the occupants. The Warrens did an exorcism on the doll and took it home. They often spoke of the consequences of disturbing the doll, stating ‘Lock her away and never take her out.’ But instead, it was trotted out all over America, and each time it was taken to a new location, things became weirder.
