Air India Crash: In response to recent report claiming that the maintenance of the Boeing 787-8 passenger aircraft was carried out by Turkish Technic’, the Turkish government has refuted the allegation. Suspicion of foreign conspiracy grew following the crash of an Air India passenger aircraft on Thursday, which claimed 241 lives. The Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications Center for Countering Disinformation denied the claims in a post shared on X, labelling them as “false.”
Turkish government stated it as attempt to manipulate public opinion regarding Türkiye-India relations.
“The claim that ‘the maintenance of the Boeing 787-8 passenger aircraft was carried out by Turkish Technic’ following the crash of an Air India passenger aircraft during take-off is false. The claim that the crashed aircraft was maintained by Turkish Technic constitutes disinformation aimed at manipulating public opinion regarding Türkiye-India relations,” stated the post.
It further asserted that under the agreements made between Air India and Turkish Technic in 2024 and 2025, maintenance services are provided exclusively for B777-type wide-body aircraft. It stated that the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner involved in the accident does not fall within the scope of this agreement.
“To date, Turkish Technic has not conducted maintenance on any Air India aircraft of this type. Although we are aware of which company performed the most recent maintenance on the crashed aircraft, it is beyond our scope to make a statement on this matter to avoid further speculation”, added the post.
While denying Turkey’s role in the maintenance of the aircraft, the center for Countering Disinformation stated, that they “sincerely share the grief of the grief of the Indian people over this tragic plane crash.”

DGCA Orders Extended Scrutiny Of Boeing 787 Fleet
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Saturday, issued an order to extend the scrutiny of the Boeing Dreamliner 787 series planes present in the Indian Aircraft fleet.
Addressing a press conference, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said, “We have very strict safety standards in the country… When the incident happened, we also felt that there is a need to do an extended surveillance of the Boeing 787 Series. DGCA has also given an order to do the extended surveillance for the Boeing 787 planes. There are 34 in our Indian aircraft fleet today. I believe that 8 have already been inspected, and with immediate urgency, all of them are going to be done.”
