Scammers Trap Gurgaon Engineer, Techie’s Return Deal Goes Viral

A software engineer from Gurgaon turned the tables on a scammer by offering to redesign their fake website for Rs 20,000. His viral social media post highlights the growing awareness of online scams and the clever ways people are dealing with them.

Gaurav Sharan, a software engineer from Gurgaon, shared a post on social media platform X, showing his conversation with a scammer. When Gaurav Sharan saw the message, he quickly realized it was a scam. He replied, “Okay, brother.” The scammer told him to open the link and update his PAN number. Gaurav responded, saying, “Your website looks fake. I’m a software engineer and can help you redesign it.”

Gaurav even offered to make the website look just like the HDFC net banking site for Rs 20,000. The scammer asked him for a sample. Gaurav shared a screenshot of their conversation and warned that one should never mess with a developer. His post has since gone viral on social media.

One social media user commented that this is turning a problem into an opportunity. Another suggested that Gaurav should have taken the Rs 20,000 and then blocked the scammer, effectively scamming the scammer. Someone else said Gaurav really had fun making fun of the scammer. Another person advised scammers to find a new method since everyone is becoming more aware, and now they might only find one or two victims after a lot of effort.
