New Delhi: Amazon has said that it is shutting down the Celebrate feature on Alexa. However, the users who bought it last year will be able to use it for the next one year after purchasing it.
After this announcement by the company, users will not be able to hear voices of celebrities like megastar Amitabh Bachchan, American actor Samuel L Jackson, former American basketball player Shaquille O’Neal on their devices.
The feature is being shut down globally, with Amazon set to turn off celebrity voices on Alexa-powered devices in the coming days.
Alexa’s purchase
While buying Bachchan’s voice on Alexa, the page says, this feature is no longer available for purchase, but users who bought it last year will be able to use it for 1 year from the date of purchase.
When purchasing Jackson’s voice for Alexa, the page states that the Personality voice for Alexa is no longer available for purchase, and that users who purchased this voice can continue to use it for the time being.
