India’s star badminton player Satwiksairaj Rankireddy’s father R Kasi Viswanatham died of a heart attack on Thursday. Satwik is currently in Delhi and was to participate in the 43rd PSPB Inter-Unit Badminton Tournament. But now he will return to Andhra Pradesh. The sad thing is that he was to receive the Khel Ratna Award today.

The pair is the only Indian doubles pair to be ranked No. 1 in the BWF World Rankings and win a BWF World Tour Super 1000 title. Satwiksairaj also set a Guinness World Record in badminton two years ago when one of his smashes clocked a speed of 565 km/h.
