The 2025-edition of IPL is the latest happening in world cricket right now, with cricket fans worldwide keeping a close eye on the tournament, to be held in India. Pakistan, on its part, is also preparing for its T20 competition, the PSL, with the hope of rivaling the IPL this year.
Karachi Kings, who had won the title in 2020, have revealed their new captain for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will begin on April 11. Former Australian opener David Warner will be the team captain this season, taking the place of Shan Masood, who is also the Test team captain of Pakistan.

Disappointing Performance by Karachi Kings Under Shan Masood
Karachi Kings have been disappointing in the last few seasons, unable to move beyond the league stage. Before PSL 2024, the franchise promoted Shan Masood as captain in the hope that he would reverse the fortunes of the team. Nevertheless, Karachi Kings once more failed to qualify for the playoffs, winning merely 4 out of 10 games and losing 6. Masood’s individual performance was also disappointing, as he managed to score only 158 runs in 10 innings, which added to the team’s poor batting performance.
David Warner’s Debut in PSL
David Warner, who has dominated cricket for decades and enjoyed a prosperous IPL career, declared himself out of international cricket following the T20 World Cup 2024. Due to this, Delhi Capitals dropped him before the IPL 2025 mega auction. To everyone’s surprise, no team selected him in the auction, making Warner unavailable for the IPL 2025 season.
As a response, Warner participated in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft, and Karachi Kings took a gamble on him. Warner will now play his first PSL match and captain Karachi Kings for the first time.
