Dhoni’s International Career

Dhoni made his international debut on 23rd December during an ODI against Bangladesh. He got off to a disastrous start to his career, having been run out on his very first delivery, but things changed afterward and he went on to smash a breathtaking 148 in his fifth game against Pakistan in Visakhapatnam.

Dhoni was also handed over the leadership of the team in no time during the ICC T20 World Cup 2007 and took Indian cricket to the world title.

He also ended the nation’s 28-year-long wait for an ODI World Cup with a remarkable innings of 91* (79) in the final against Sri Lanka in 2011. Under Dhoni’s reign, India were also crowned the Champions Trophy winners in 2013, making him the first and only captain to win all ICC trophies.
