India Vs England: Prasidh Krishna Speaks About Team’s Atmosphere And More Ahead Of Mega Tour

Krishna explained how he remained mentally sharp while also coping with the inactivity that comes with sitting out on the sidelines.

Fresh from a commendable Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, Prasidh Krishna has left the Indian Test team with one thing on his mind: remain focused when called upon, but also not forget the joy of the game. In an interview with BCCI TV on Day 1 of the current intra-squad match at Beckenham, Krishna explained how he remained mentally sharp while also coping with the inactivity that comes with sitting out on the sidelines.

“You need to be prepared when your time comes along, but you can’t stay highly concentrated for great lengths of time, particularly when you’re not playing,” Krishna said. “So you need to relax a bit and enjoy yourself as well.”

He went on to say that having an awareness of game situations and providing the right support at the right times is crucial:

“You have to be alert when situations demand it. That’s the beauty of cricket anything can happen at any time. All of us have enough experience now to know when to switch on and when to switch off.”

Bouncing Back from Injuries, Krishna Eyes Test Opportunities

Krishna’s career has had its share of promising performances and dismal injury setbacks. Having recovered from surgery, he made a comeback in style during the IPL 2025 season, claiming 25 wickets in 15 matches for the Gujarat Titans (GT) at a stunning average of 19.52. Though it is not certain if he will play in the first Test at Headingley, Leeds, the pacer’s capability to get bounce from the pitches makes him a useful asset in English conditions.

On the Practice Match and Team Atmosphere

Looking back at day one of the warm-up match, Krishna provided color and commentary on the pitch and the performances being displayed. He pointed out how valuable match practice is particularly for players coming through the India A structure.

“It’s very crucial for all of us to have this type of game time. Some players are returning from A tours, and middle time always helps,” he added. “The pitch has played well – it’s a hard one with good bounce. Bowlers have dominated periods, bowling quality spells, and the batters have shown grit as well.”

He also underlined the importance of team bonding and creating a positive dressing room atmosphere:

“Everyone’s just enjoying themselves. A lot of us haven’t seen each other in a while, and we’ve played a lot of cricket in different setups. So it’s about reconnecting, sharing memories, and keeping the environment light.”

With the five-match Test series against England commencing on June 20, the battle for a place in the Indian XI continues to be intense. But for Krishna, things are simple: remain ready, back the team, and grab the opportunity when it arises.
