The trophy Launch of the India-England Test series, which will now be called the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, has been postponed out of respect for the Ahmedabad plane crash victims. The 5 match Test series is scheduled to be played from 20 June to August 4, 2025. The launch was scheduled for June 14, has now been postponed last minute.
History of Patudi Trophy
Earlier known as the Pataudi Trophy, the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy holds much history The Pataudi Trophy is a Test cricket series played between India and England in England. It was instituted in 2007 by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to honor the cricketing legacy of the Pataudi family, particularly Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who captained India in the 1960s and whose father Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, played for both England and India.

Tragic Accident at Ahmedabad
In a heartbreaking event on June 12, an Air India flight took off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad just crashed minutes after taking off. The flight was on its way to London Gatwick Airport and was carrying around 242 passengers when it crashed after taking off at around 600 feet above the ground. All the passengers died at the scene, and just 1 man survived. The flight was also carrying 54 UK nationals.
Tribute at WTC Finals
At the ongoing match of the World Test Championship 2023-25 finals between the reigning champions Australia and South Africa at the Lord’s, all the players were seen wearing Balck armbands on Day 3 of the ‘Ultimate Test’ to pay their respects to the Ahmedabad plane crash victims just a day before.
