Rohit, who has played alongside Mathews from their U-19 days, lauded the Sri Lankan legend for his efforts to the longest version of the game. In a Newswire video, Rohit stated, Mathews retires as one of Sri Lanka’s greatest Test players. With 8,167 runs to his credit, he is third in the nation’s all-time run-scorers’ list for the format behind legends Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara. The Galle Test will be his chance to further entrench himself in the annals of cricket history and bow out of the red-ball game in style with a win.
