PBKS Vs DC: Player Reveals What Happened After Blackout In Dharamsala Stadium, Says ‘We Were Asked To…’

In the midst of increasing cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, the BCCI is said to be mulling over alterations to the itinerary of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League.

One of the IPL franchisees’ players revealed that after the unexpected blackout during the match at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, the players were ordered back to their respective hotels right away, creating panic. Amid the chaos, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings players reportedly ended up on each other’s team buses.

Situation Of Panic In Dharamsala

“We were told about attacks in nearby Pathankot. We are asked to go back to the hotel immediately. There was some panic… Delhi Capitals were seated in the Punjab team bus and vice versa,” a player was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

Tensions Increase Between India And Pakistan

In the midst of increasing cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, the BCCI is said to be mulling over alterations to the itinerary of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League. The Indian Express reports that if the national security scenario deteriorates, the board could either suspend the tournament or make adjustments to the existing schedule.

Match Between PBKS Vs DC Gets Abandoned

The star match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was abandoned on Thursday evening at approximately 9:35 PM, just after PBKS had scored 122/1 in 10.1 overs. The initial reason given for the unexpected blackout was floodlight failure. But Dharamsala, which is merely 90 km from Pathankot, one of the locations hit by air strikes from Pakistan, was already in high alert.

Situation Being Looked After Closely

According to reports, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association made the decision to suspend the game following a phone call with a top cricket official. Shortly after the call, the light towers of the stadium were switched off, leaving the ground in darkness. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal was spotted on the ground gesturing to spectators to leave the stands for safety.
