Young player Nitish Kumar Reddy has been given medical clearance by the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and will play for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2025. He will be fit for the team’s first match on March 23 against Rajasthan Royals, his comeback to competitive cricket after recovery from a side strain. Nitish is likely to report for SRH’s pre-tournament camp from this Sunday.
Successful Fitness Test Secures IPL Return
The last step in Nitish’s rehabilitation process was a yo-yo test, which he took on Saturday morning and passed comfortably with a mark of 18, much more than the mandatory 16.5. Before that, he played a practice match on Friday, bowling at full pace without any indication of pain. While his rehab lasted two weeks longer than initially anticipated, the BCCI medical panel ensured a gradual and systematic rehabilitation plan for him.

Central Figure In India’s Test Format
Nitish is an integral component of India’s Test schemes in the long run, with a significant tour of England lined up soon after the IPL finishes in late May. His consistent cricketing performances in domestic and international cricket have consolidated his place in the national team.
Impressive IPL & International Journey
Before the IPL 2025 mega auction, SRH retained Nitish, identifying his contribution to the IPL 2024 campaign, during which he scored 303 runs off a strike rate of 142.92. While his batting performance was on par—tallying a mere three wickets while taking 11.62 runs an over—his all-round strengths are still significant.
Test And T20I Debut
Nitish debuted in T20I for India in the home series against Bangladesh and then made an even greater impact in Test cricket. His coming of age was during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where he played all five games and scored his first Test century in Melbourne.
With the injury now a thing of the past, Nitish is keen to make a good comeback in IPL 2025, and even more firmly establish himself as one of India’s emerging all-rounders.
