IPL 2025: LSG Set To Drop A Major Bombshell- Report Makes BIG Claim

Fast bowler Mayank Yadav is likely to be retained, he might be among the first three players selected by the franchise.

KL Rahul is likely to be released by Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the IPL 2025 auction following the trends and analysis of his performance. With the IPL Governing Council confirming retention rules, franchises have begun planning their choices of players to be retained using retention and Right-To-Match options along with new signings. Rahul’s future with the Super Giants had been uncertain following his form last season and exclusion from India’s T20I squad. According to recent reports, he did not get any vote of confidence from LSG management prior to the deadline for retention.

KL Rahul Likely To Be Released From LSG

According to the Times of India, LSG mentor Zaheer Khan and coach Justin Langer assessed Kl Rahul‘s influence on the team’s performance. They found that just as his batting time improved, the team had losses. However, speedy bowler Mayank Yadav is likely to be retained. He may be among the first three players selected by the franchise. Apart from those, uncapped talents like Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan are also likely to be retained.

“The LSG management, including mentor Zaheer Khan and coach Justin Langer, has analysed his stats and it has emerged that the team has almost lost all matches where KL has batted long and scored runs. That indicates that his strike rate doesn’t match the momentum of the game. With the Impact Player rule, the scores are getting higher. You can’t afford to have someone taking so much time at the top of the order,” IPL source told the paper.

Besides, LSG is also said to be interested in roping in Rishabh Pant as the captain, who’s said to be on the chopping block by Delhi Capitals if they opt to let him go.
