IND Vs NZ, 1st Test: Dhruv Jurel Replaces Rishabh Pant As Wicketkeeper! BCCI Gives Concerning Update

Rishabh Pant did not come out of the dressing room today to resume wicket-keeping duties following the injury he sustained on the second day of the first ongoing Test against New Zealand at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The play began on the most on day 3 of the match, and the team was seen fielding with the substitute Dhruv Jurel taking the place of Rishabh Pant. A emphatic update that Pant won’t be keeping the wickets was provided from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Day 3.

He received a blow to the knee as he could not gather the ball and walked off instantly. Dhruv Jurel replaced Pant. Addressing the press at the end of Day 2, India captain Rohit Sharma said that Pant had been hit on the kneecap.

“Unfortunately, the ball hit straight on his knee cap, the same leg on which he has got surgery done. So he has got a bit of swelling on it,” Rohit said.

“And you know the muscles are quite tender at this point in time, so it’s a precautionary measure. We don’t want to take a risk. Rishabh doesn’t want to take a risk because he has gone through a massive surgery on that particular leg. That was the reason for him to go inside. Hopefully, at night he can recover and we will see him back on the field tomorrow,” he added.
