West Indies player Nicholas Pooran has shocked everyone with his decision to retire from international cricket at the age of 29. The former T20I Captain recently was seen playing the Indian Premier League for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and he shared about his decision with a heartfelt message on Instagram. In his international career, Pooran has played 61 T20Is and 106 ODIs amassing over 4000 runs in both the formats.

Virat Kohli

India’s star batter announced his shocking retirement from the Test format in May 2025 and his decision came just ahead of the England tour which will be starting from June 20. Kohli already retired from the T20Is in June 2024 after winning the Men’s T20 World Cup and will now only feature in the ODI format. In Tests Kohli has scored 9230 runs in 123 matches which included 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries.

Rohit Sharma

India captain Rohit Sharma also unexpectedly retired from the Test format and now he will only feature in the ODIs. The 38-year old batter had already retired from the T20Is after winning the T20 World Cup in June. Rohit Sharma has played 67 Tests in which he has scored 4301 runs, this includes 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries.

Heinrich Klaasen

South Africa’s wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen stunned everyone with his retirement this month (June). At the age of 33 he bid an adieu to international cricket and has decided to prioritize his family and franchise cricket. He has played 60 ODIs and 58 T20Is in his international career.

Glenn Maxwell

One of the strongest ODI batters in the world, Glenn Maxwell announced his retirement from the ODI format at the age of 36 due to recurring back issues and the need to manage his workload. He has played 149 ODIs and scored 3990 runs which includes 4 centuries and 23 half-centuries.
