The fourth Test between India and England will be played on July 23 at the Old Trafford in Manchester. Both teams will be aiming for a win as this match could be the series decider with England currently leading 2-1.
But the Indian camp has been hit by many setbacks in recent days. First Arshdeep Singh was ruled out after he was hit by a ball in the nets and received stitches on his left thumb. After this, Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out due to a knee injury. But this was not the end of India’s struggles. It has been reported that Akashdeep has been struggling with a groin injury.

“Akash bowled a few deliveries under the watch of bowling coach Morne Morkel and the physio. He, however, didn’t do any activity in the nets and is unlikely to feature in the Old Trafford Test.” according to a report by Times of India
Akashdeep has been performing exceptionally well in the series and at the Birmingham Test he even took a 10-wicket haul. If he does not play the 4th Test against England, it is likely that Prasidh Krishna will come in his place.

The Old Trafford pitch is famous for being well-balanced, offering something for all five days. In the initial days, particularly under cloudy conditions, the fast bowlers are expected to have the upper hand, with swing and seam likely to bother the top order. Batting on the opening day might prove to be difficult. The pitch would have provided a strong support to Akashdeep while bowling but if he does not play, it will be a big setback for India in this very crucial Test.
